JOB Position: Windows / VMWare L3 & Tech Lead

Location: Bangalore, IN

Opportunity: Full Time

 Job Summary/Tasks

  • Work in General shift(10:30Hrs to 19:30Hrs),Out of Office Hour support, typically rotating Bi- weekly. Might have to connect from Home in case of escalations.
  • Remotely connect to servers, applications, network devices to troubleshoot faults or handle incidents
  • Use ticket tracking software to record all work activity, timesheet etc, following defined processes based on ITIL methodology
  • Communicate via phone and/or Email, follow up with global teams in Europe, America, Asia,Japan, etc., and resolve incidents / Issues
  • Troubleshoot every escalated case from L2 & L3 Teams and check the opportunity to restore the service or give an acceptable workaround in order to meet the immediate business needs
  • Analyze every proposal from L2 and L3 Team Members and approve/reject the same.
  • Analyze and fix Problem tickets, provide the RCA Report and solution (if not possible) work around to the Business.
  • Manage Projects and deliver projects on time
  • Read knowledgebase articles or vendor documentation to be up to date on the current technologies used within the infrastructure. Should be able to read documentation or procedures and take action based on defined steps
  • If the incident or ticket cannot be solved immediately, follow escalation procedure and assign the tickets to the appropriate teams and coordinate for resolution
  • Handle calls from Server and application support teams and provide accurate information for quick restoration of service
  • Ensure timely creation of necessary reports or documentation related to the job or update the knowledge base.
  • Take up activities, use lab infrastructure for self study and improvement, present to other team members
  • Create/Update Technical or Process Work Instructions and KEDB for L2 and L3 Teams
  • Follow Incident, Change and Problem Management processes as defined in UCB following the ITIL best practices.
  • Look for Opportunities in Automating routine IT Admin tasks.
  • Should have an innovative mindset to find new solutions and processes which will help UCB IT Infrastructure
  • Leading a team of 8 Members(External Consultants coming from different Vendors)
  • Always look for the service improvements either with Technology or Process changes, Discuss with UCB Management and implement the same when approved.

Education & Experience

  •  Minimum qualification B.E / B.Tech / Graduate
  •  8 – 15 years, at least 3 year in Remote Mgmt
  •  ITIL Framework & concepts
  •  Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 MCSA Certification or VCP 6.5 – DCV Certification
  •  VMWare vSphere 6.5 / 6.7 Trained
  •  Good verbal and written Communication

  •  Server Hardware (Blade, KVM, Blade Enclosure..)
  •  Resource Management, Disks, CPU and Memory etc
  •  RAID and Array Controller Concepts
  •  BIOS/Firmware\Driver Management

Windows 2008/2012/2016

  •   Installation & Configuration
  •  In depth Windows Server Administration & Troubleshooting
  •  In depth knowledge in Performance Management & Tuning
  •  Security Management (Policies, Audit, Logs)
  •  NTFS & Access Management
  •  DNS/WINS & DHCP Management
  •  Printer & Patch Management
  •  Upgrade & Migration of Servers
  •  Capacity and Availability Management
  •  In depth Diagnostics & Analysis (Dump Analysis…) skills
  •  Windows Resource Kit & Support Tools
  •  DFS Concepts. Hands-on experience required.
  •  Remote Management Tools (MSTSC / RDP Client / ICA, DSView  4, HP ILO and PsTools)
  •  Knowledge on Windows Licensing and KMS service
  •  Knowledge on Remote desktop services.

Cluster Management  

  •  In Depth Knowledge of Windows(2008/2012/2016) Cluster Services (Software, Hardware,   Network Requirements, Shared disk, etc)
  •  Installation and Setup of Cluster Services
  •  Configuring the Quorum Disk, Shared Disk, Heartbeat, etc…
  •  Managing the Cluster Resources (Failover, Failback, etc)
  •  Good Troubleshooting skills on Microsoft Clustering
  •  Upgrade & Migration of Cluster
  •  Always on SQL Cluster

 Server Virtualization (VMWare)

  •   In depth knowledge in VMWare ESX 6.x
  •  In depth knowledge in Virtual Infrastructure Management
  •  ESXi host installation and Configuration
  •  Virtual Switch configuration and Administration
  •  HA & DRS Cluster setup and Administrations
  •  In depth knowledge Update Manager
  •  VM / Host Affinity Rules Configuration
  •  P2V and V2V
  •  VM Backup Technologies (E.g.: Snap Manager for Virtual Infrastructure from NetApp)
  •  Knowledge in VMWare vRealize 7.x
